Peace be upon you this sacred month. I was planning to write a series on Animals in the Qur’an but God had other plans. After a whole bout of flu the past ten days, I am only now starting to research on the topic. I hope to write on the various animals after my research.
In the meantime, I have been compiling my early writings on certain surahs/chapters of the Qur’an into a book. The book, working title being Qur’anic Wisdom for the 21st century, will cover five chapters
- Hud
- Al-Qasas
- Ar-Rahman
- Al-Mulk
- Al-‘Asr
and here is my pitch for the book.
As our environmental and social systems falter, where do we turn for guidance? Qur’anic Wisdom examines five Surahs—Hud through Al-Asr—as a spiritual roadmap for the twenty-first century. Integrating personal narrative with an analysis of the emerging picture of global corruption, the author highlights the urgent modern need for two Divine Attributes: Al-Adl (The Most Just) and Ar-Rahman (The Most Gracious). It is a call to restore balance to a fractured world through the timeless framework of justice and mercy.
Given the current turbulent times we live in with Trump rolling back on US climate policies and now the Middle East is up in flames, we really need an ethical framework based on justice and mercy. I hope to get the book published before the end of the year. Stay tuned as I’ll be sharing some snippets from the book.
That is it for now since I am still in recovery mode. Have a blessed month ahead.
